Memorial for Charity
A fund for charities, in loving memory of Blake and Shayne Conway.
The Story of Our Children
Thank you for visiting the Memorial for Charity page.
We are Dan and Doreen Conway and are honored to introduce our sons Blake and Shayne Conway, whose memories are being honored through the Memorial for Charity.
Blake was our first son born September 1990. Unfortunately, he had an incurable neurological condition and passed at 2 1/2 months old. We were able to donate his tissue for research in hopes of sparing another family this misfortune.
Our second son, Shayne, was born the following year in October 1992. Shayne was quite a child – smart, handsome, funny and so well liked by anyone who knew him. The year after he graduated high school at the young age of 19, Shayne suddenly passed from a pulmonary embolism. We were fortunate to be able to donate his heart and both kidneys to three recipients resulting in three successful transplants. To give the gift of life to others was so rewarding and a bright light in the midst of a tragedy. It was unbearable to think about what an unbelievable contribution Shayne would’ve made in his life having been given the chance to pursue his goals and education.
We hope our story will inspire others to pursue their dreams and goals, and really make something out of their lives. Through the Max529 Charitable Fund, which has become a reality now through the vision, unwavering commitment and extraordinary generosity of Frank and Pam Hanlon (Frank is a Director of MAX529), we hope to provide an educational opportunity for your precious children.
Thank you for your interest in the Memorial for Charity.
In honor of our sons, Blake and Shayne Conway, we have chosen to work with and support the following
two organizations:
The first is Scholarship America.
Scholarship America’s mission is to eliminate barriers to educational success so that any student can pursue their dream. Since 1958 Scholarship America has distributed $5 billion in scholarships and served
over 3 million students. Scholarship America is the largest and most experienced provider of private
scholarships in the country – a position that comes with immense responsibility to ensure scholarship
dollars are making the most student impact.
